Cheers Vince! Yeah, I think it is quiet. I've not done anything to normalise it. I probably should do because at least 1 db could be gained. I'm happy enough with the sounds that I may do another version of this one and the original track when I get the time.

Nice, mellow, groovy, and I dig the sounds. Could be beefed up as Kent mentioned, but even as-is the track is a lovely early morning number. Slightly moody. I'm imagining driving through fog while this is playing. It's a bit quiet, but that could be my 'listening' setup at work. Glad you're finding time to make music!

Word. Glad you like it! I may do another version with more variance at some point but this was very much a quick effort. Think I'll finish the original first though. :)

I love this. And you did something I've liked doing -- taking a track that I've fought to a standstill without completing it, deleting all the patterns and starting over.

The only suggestion I'd have is to add some additional percussion -- some rides and maybe an occasional crash, dropping the kick etc. But as it is it's a very workable DJ tool track with a great vibe.

nice one, will check the surgeon mix out. Buzz - well, looks more like the fella, but I would have expected Buzz to play mainly UR classics and this set was different - like a showcase of some new style. I really had never heard anything like it, the closest was perhaps Cajmere playing his own wonky time sig tech, that had a few tones in. The only tracks I knew in this set were the human bond as I said and Lyot vainquer - no UR tracks at all as far as i could tell.

maybe i'll ask on littledetroit one day. cheers!

I stand corrected. I was thinking of Food For Thought, which he released in 2004. So, same era, but wrong mix. It was released in higher quality mp3 not that long ago. It's in the Media section on http://www.dj-surgeon.com/

Could the UR DJ have been Buzz Goree AKA Clandestine? I've seen him play a belter or two.

Hi Tristan

Thanks ever so much for the reply! And for the thread links. I went to a few of those Losts, I used to spend a bit of money at Fat Cat too, what a shop - no, scrap that, what an EXPERIENCE! However I don't believe the UR thing was a Lost, it was one of the only times I know of that the main body of the UR crew came over and as far as I know they weren't sharing the bill with anyone else. Deffo not Rolando, this dude was dark and had a shiny bald head, good looking fella. No matter, it remains a sublime memory.

I'm glad you wrote about ATP. Nice talking with you! Best,

Alex

ps couldn't find the surgeon, if you have a min sometime ... much app ... :)

Hi Alex,

I just re-read this post. I'm a bit more sceptical if those tracks were new LFO material now. :) Would love to hear a recording of this if you ever stumble across it. You know that the Surgeon set emerged? I can probably track that down if you have any trouble finding it.

Wasn't at the UR gig. Can I assume that was a Lost? If so, my wife was probably there but I was living in Iowa then. This thread on Disception might interest you though? http://www.disception.net/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=8455 or this http://www.disception.net/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=5610

Sounds like it could have been Rolando?

hello there. i was just looking up that Mark Bell set, rather naively hoping that there might be a copy floating about somewhere. completely agree, definitely the best of the festival for me and one of the most memorable sets of my life. went absolutely spastic to it. aahhhhh :)

don't suppose you saw UR in vauxhall in '95 ish? who played the last set - was meant to be suburban knight but i'm sure it wasn't. the most incredible tonal techno, the likes of which i have never heard before or after. a few classics too - e-dancer's the human bond played through a pitch shifter. just stunning...
